Drop by your local library and pick up several comedy CDs or records. Some that are generally appropriate for in-class use include those of Bill Cosby, Erma Bombeck, Bob Newhart, Bob and Ray. Check out videotapes of comics doing monologues: Seinfield, Leno, and Comedy Club Skits. Play selected cuts in class and have students identify specific images that contribute to the humor.

          You can also assign students to locate audio and video humor models as long as you allow time to preview them. Doing this as an extra credit project works best, creating fewer samples to preview for class use.
