The Akron Area Tech Prep Consortium was established in 1992 to initiate Tech Prep programs in high schools that provide advanced-skills education and training in technology-related careers for students which result in an associate degree and/or employment.

As a sequence of study emphasizing the continuity between the last two years of high school and two years at The University of Akron's Community and Technical College or Wayne College. Tech Prep is a 2+2+2 program that prepares students for careers in technical and service areas.

In our competitive, technology-driven world, where the workplace is transformed almost daily, failure to adapt or learn new technologies and how to apply them in real-world situations can condemn today's students to job obsolescence and an uncertain future.

Postsecondary consortium members include:

and
Wayne College

The consortium includes local businesses and industry representation who serve on the consortium's steering committee and help create curriculum targeting employer needs.
